Hello everyone
·      This is my magazine called pop passion

·      The reason I have picked this title is because the word pop associates with my music genre so people will recognise this as a pop
music magazine and passion shows peoples real love for this music

·      the title uses two fonts. Pop is written in Prisma, is in pink  is the biggest font on the front cover

·      This is so it stands out to my target audience as the genre they are looking for

·      Passion is written in a script font called Bentosa in purple it is positioned under pop and slightly slanted.

·      The reasons for pink and purple is because pop music usually gives off happy vibes and I associate peppiness with the colours pink and purple as they are vibrant

·      This looks aesthetically pleasing and will stand out when the target audience want to buy it

·      This is because The title is positioned differently to other magazines when the mast head just goes straight across the top of the front page.

·      Passion will be the second biggest font on the front cover as it is part of the title, yet the word pop is more important and asserts its dominance on the page because its stating what the magazine is all about.

·       Also the alliteration of the title makes it easy to remember.

Target audience

·      My Primary target audience will be teenage girls ages 15-19

·      mixed ethnicity and part of the social grade BC1C2.

·      I chose this target audience because at this age this age group starts to become independent and start following trends.

·      The aim is for my magazine to influence 15-19 years old to listen to pop music and enjoy the vibrant music scene that my magazine will celebrate.

·      My secondary target audience will be younger sisters of the primary target audience,

·      as little sisters often look up to their older siblings and want to be like them

·      My secondary audience will also be aimed at boys aged 15-19 within the LGBT community

·      This is due to pop music expressing people for being who they want to be and loving who they want to love.

Purpose
·      The purpose of my magazine is to spread new trends around and inform people about new upcoming pop music.

·       However I also feel there is a gap in the market for this type of magazine as they usually target a much younger age bracket.

·      I want to fill this gap in the market and create a magazine for pop music aimed at an older target audience so I can bring back the love for pop music from when they were younger as teenagers.

·      My magazine will inform and entertain my readers

Form
·      My magazine would be online and print. People who want it online would pay a subscription and will then enter their card details that they paid for the years subscription on and they will access the monthly issue of the magazine.

·       My magazine will cost £4.99 an issue online and printed as it is a reasonable cost for a monthly magazine and easy for teenagers to afford.

·      A year’s subscription will cost £30.00 online and £40.00 if printed and delivered to your door

·      It is more if the subscription is delivered to your door as it costs more to print and deliver

·      The subscription can be cancelled if they wish to stop

·        I will also offer students who have a student discount card 10% off the years subscription.

·      My magazine will be uncoated

·      The reason its uncoated is because it can be recycled, and we care about the environment as it’s a more ethical approach.

·      The front cover of my magazine will be glossy as it looks nicer and is more aesthetically pleasing

·      Lightweight so its easy to carry around

Genre
·      My magazine genre is pop

·      It will also be based in north London

·      I chose this genre because of the gap in the market which means there is a bigger market for people to buy my magazine

·      Also the fact its in north London a particular group of people will buy it as its specifically aimed at one region

Content
·      My magazine will include articles about all new pop artists, music and trends.

·      The reason I have chosen this content is because pop music is an abbreviation for popular music so it would make sense for all of my articles to be up-to-date and new to keep to the theme of my idea of a trendy magazine

·      In my magazine i will also include venue information. this means I will write about different venues in North London and what is happening in them who will be preforming there. For example, an article could be the club KOKO is closing down in 2019

·      There will be reviews on music and venues, so people are informed

·      Q&As so people can ask the artists questions they are desperate to know

·      And competitions to give people a chance to win items such as concert tickets or meet and greet tickets if they missed out on buying them when they came out

·      I will also be using advertisements in my magazine as it will help me pay for the printing and delivery cost.

·      I will use advertisements relevant to teenagers such as skin care fashion restaurants.

Equipment
·      Camera to take the pictures for my magazine

·      Lights To help me create an atmosphere on the picture whether I want it to be bright or dark.

·      Background I will be using somewhere in north London as that’s where my magazine is based

·      Tripod to keep my camera still to make it look all professional

·      Computer to write and edit my magazine on

Personnel
·      For my magazine I would need a
·      camera operator to take the pictures on my magazine
·      a model this would be one of the pop artists on my magazine
·       an editor to ensure all content is appropriate and makes sure the picture looks professional
·       a lighting operator To make sure the lights are set up and in the correct setting for the picture
·      hair and makeup team to  style the artists
·       custom service team in an office and will help customers if they have a problem such as they didn’t receive their monthly issue
·      Publisher to publish the magazine
·       Journalist to write article about pop music in north London such as new artists venues new music

Distribution
My magazine will be sold in

Newsagents in North London as when school children wait for busses they can go into the shop and buy it.

Delivery services such as hermes and royal mail

Online subscription

Record shops as it links with what my magazine is selling and its now cool and trendy to now have a record player

Marketing methods
·      Social media

·      This is because a vast majority of teenagers are on social media such as Instagram twitter Facebook and snapchat

·      Using adverts on social media will make sure teenagers will see the magazine and what the magazine will include

·      Billboard adverts so the older end of my target audience (17-19) can view it as they are driving past

·  Bus stop adverts so when the 15-16-year olds travel to school on public transport they can be interested and buy a copy

Mood board
·      This is my mood board

·      It shows different venues and artists from north London

·      It just giving a taster of what’s included in the magazine

Sketches
·      Here is my hand drawn sketch

·      It gives a rough idea of where each of the properties would go

·      For example the masthead is at the top

·      Puff piece on the side

·      Strap line at the bottom

·      Main image big and clear

Digital sketch
·      This gives a clearer layout of where and what they magazine would look like when digitally designed

Competition
·      Due to the fact my magazine primarily focuses on the vibrant music scene in North London some people may not buy it due to the fact it is not relevant to them

·       People may choose to buy bigger brands such as Billboard, seventeen, we love pop, smash hits, Q and tiger beat. as they are well known magazine companies and are sold all over

·      Billboards price is £7.54 an issue, seventeen magazines is £5.37 an issue and we love pop is £5.99.

·      I have made my magazines price £4.99 an issue as its not ridiculously expensive for a magazine and teenagers can easily afford it. since it is cheaper than the other magazines it helps make an easier choice when teenagers are stuck between a few magazines

·      Thank you for listening any questions?

Amendments
Following my practice presentation, I was told to amend my script rather than the actual presentation. Below I have highlighted in yellow the changes I have made to my script.

Final powerpoint presentation

Reasons
My USP- I added in what my unique selling point was as it gives the person I'm pitching my ideas to an idea of why my magazine differentiates from other pop music magazines around now.

Informing and entertaining my readers-I added in more detail about how I will do this to give more detail about what I aspire my magazine to do

Prices- I changed my prices from £35/£40 a year to £45/£50 a year this so I gain more income and don't lose out on profit yet its still gives my readers money off from buying every issue separately.

Prizes- I added in that my prizes will start off small but then once my magazine becomes more popular i will use bigger prizes such as concert tickets.

Equipment- I added in that I will use my own equipment until we gain more income we can buy a lot of equipment.

distribution- I also explained that I will be using a delivery service to give out my magazine to the years subscription

Potential client questions
  • What is your USP?
My unique selling point is the fact the majority of pop music magazines are targeted at a much younger target audience; I want to fill the gap in the market and make my magazine aimed at an older audience

  • Why did you make your magazine that price?
My magazine is £4.99 because the competitors' prices are much higher so when it comes down to decision making between magazines, mine is at the cheapest price for a teenage pop magazine

  • How are you going to pay for the bus stop adverts/ billboard adverts to advertise your magazine as they are expensive?
As I will be using interns while my magazine is progressing, it will mean more income to me so when my magazine becomes well known and I gain more money, I can then create billboard and bus stop adverts to gain more publicity.

  • Your prizes are expensive how will you pay for them?
The prizes will start small but then progress to bigger prizes such as concert tickets.

  • Is 15-19 too old?
In my opinion I feel that the gap in the market makes teenagers feel embarrassed to listen to pop music so if there is a magazine dedicated to teenagers listening to pop it will help them enjoy the music genre.

  • Is £40 to cheap for a printed magazine too cheap if your magazine is £4.99 an issue?
from feedback from various people Yes I feel it is too cheap so I shall raise the price to £50 for printed and £45 online as it means my company will gain income but it also gives a discount from buying the magazine separately. its a saving of 15%

  • Should you have an option to cancel will this make the people want to leave the magazine?
I will change that in my pitch as I don't feel they should be able to cancel the subscription as they may want to leave and I want to keep my customers so at the end of the year they can have a choice to renew their subscription or leave.

  • Are these the correct places to distribute your magazine?
In my opinion I feel like places in north London such as a newsagent are the correct places to distribute my magazine as teenagers will go into these shops after school to buy items such as drinks or sweets to eat on the bus or train home so the magazine can catch their eye on the shelf and thy could buy it to read on the journey home.

  • why is your magazine the best to choose out of your competition?
My magazine is the best to choose out of my competition as we target a different age group as its not for younger girls its for teenage girls so they can enjoy the music they love and not feel patronised reading about it by magazines such as we love pop. because of the gap in the market it will give people something new to read.
